BYD has unveiled additional images of its forthcoming Shark pickup truck, providing a closer look at the plug-in hybrid model.
The latest images reveal various features of the vehicle, including the ability to unlock it via a mobile phone in the NFC identification zone on the rearview mirror. Additionally, a gantry is visible in the rear cargo box. The rear of the vehicle showcases striking penetrating taillights, featuring E-type taillights on both sides, with BYD's logo positioned beneath the light assembly.
Targeting the global market, this midsize-to-large pickup signifies a notable stride for the Chinese automotive giant, intensifying its competition against established global rivals like Toyota and Tesla. Comparable in size to the Ford Ranger PHEV, the Shark stands out as there are no other plug-in pickups of its class available in key markets such as China, Europe, or Australia where it will be marketed.
While specifics of the Shark's powertrain remain undisclosed, it will introduce a plug-in hybrid system dubbed Dual Mode Off-Road (DMO), aimed at enhancing off-road driving capabilities.
